Abstract

Human trafficking remains one of the most egregious human rights violations, manifesting as modern slavery despite global advancements in human rights and civilization. The Rohingya crisis serves as an example of the grave consequences of human trafficking since the targeted ethnic minority in Myanmar is highly vulnerable as a result of their forced relocation and lack of safety in Bangladesh. The principal objective of this paper is to investigate the reason, consequence, and legal mechanisms of human trafficking of the Rohingya community within Bangladesh while offering insights and suggestions for more successful preventative and intervention tactics to preserve human dignity. This research has been conducted using qualitative and quantitative methods, which helped to analyze the core reasons for human trafficking among Rohingyas and formulate recommendations. This study finds that the influx of Rohingyas faced a lot of hardships in settling here. As a result, in search of a new life, they are attracted to migrate to other countries, which is the biggest reason for the voluntary human trafficking of Rohingyas. Bangladesh can implement comprehensive measures, which include legal reforms, enhanced enforcement, victim protection, intense international repatriation negotiations, and sustainable livelihood initiatives, which can help the government bring reforms to change this vulnerability into resilience.
