Abstract

Digital literacy is a crucial skill for individuals in the 21st century. The broad term encompassed the ability to effectively use digital devices and networked technologies to access, manage, understand, integrate, communicate, evaluate, and create information with due safety and due diligence. Typically, Digital Natives are regarded as being digitally literate. The study focused on assessing the digital literacy of university students in Bangladesh, utilizing the theoretical framework on Digital Literacy developed by Martin and Grudziecki. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, this study included a survey conducted with 328 university students to validate the hypotheses and in-depth interviews with 10 participants for a more comprehensive understanding. The findings reveal an average digital literacy rate of 3.57 and indicate a significant relationship between variables such as time, gender, and educational institutions. Additionally, the study highlights obstacles and opportunities in advancing digital literacy skills among students.
